Stuff and Nonsense

Willow Tit #85

The last day of our final staycation this year and we stopped at WWT Washington on the way home. Having only been here a few weeks ago we were familiar with the layout and knew which hides we wanted to visit during our short stay. There is a lovely woodland hide that gave us good views of woodpecker, tree creeper and nuthatch last time so we headed there first. There were lots of tits around, particularly coal tits, but this willow tit is today's star and latest addition to my annual blip list. I'm very happy with this last weeks sightings having added 6 new ones. I have a slightly bigger chance of making my target of 100 again, even if the remaining 15 will have to be done more locally.

We arrived home to find that my Dad was back home after not having his hip replacement today after all......some ridiculous administrative oversight that now means that the operation is postponed until 9th November. But at least we know that we will be around now, which is good as my Mum is also due to have a cataract removed on 13th November.  With Warrington moving into tier 3 tomorrow, I'm more than a bit worried about them both going anywhere near a hospital as they have been more or less shielding since March......especially as Dad heard on TV this weekend that 20% of people that have Covid in Warrington caught it in hospital!!!

Stay safe everybody.
