Through the keyhole

Scotland trip day 3.

Woke up to a lovely sunny morning, refreshed after a rain free night, leisurely breakfast( we are on holiday after all).

Picnic lunch packed, doggies in the car and we’re off.

First stop Lindean Loch for our first walk of the day, although the Loch looks natural, much of it was dug by hand in the 18th century. The paths were very muddy in places making walking quite difficult. As we walked further around  we came across a little dilapidated boat house just waiting to be blipped. After our walk we returned to the car with two very wet and muddy doggies, and it was time for our picnic lunch.

The weather by this time had changed from sunny to quite wet. So a change of plan was necessary, we decided to take a drive through the peaceful Ettrick and Yarrow valleys a beautiful and mostly undiscovered part of the Scottish Borders.

On our return to Melrose we parked the car at the caravan site.

Our second walk of the day took us down to the river Tweed where we crossed the suspension foot bridge (the doggies were very reluctant to cross as they don’t like to see the water flowing below) Surprisingly the sun came out and it was a very pleasant evening. As we walked back through the town we passed the old post office where we spotted these old stamp machines, it was getting dark by the time we got back to the caravan.

Just had dinner and settling down for the evening. Tomorrow we head further North to Stirling where we will stay until Saturday.
