Out for the Count

I was outside taking out the dread phormium which has come up in the middle of the streletzias (that was fun to write...drove the auto correct nuts) when I noticed this dazed little bird sitting on the porch. We are used to seeing this as they fly into the windows all the time. (Dirty ash covered windows doesn’t prevent it).

Sometimes they recover and fly off, and occasionally they aren’t so lucky. This one sat, eyes closed without moving, for a couple of hours and I was worried about it, but as I was finishing up I noticed that its eyes were open. Next time I turned around it was gone. Thank goodness! A deceased birdie might have been the final straw for my fragile state of mental health.

The communications saga goes on....and on and on and on, never becoming any clearer. No two people tell us the same thing. John was convinced that the second technician was going to show up at 8am this morning. But the guy who sent him also told John that the cable replacement project in our area wasn’t scheduled to be completed until February! All they can do when we call to enquire is send a technician who either doesn’t show up, or says he can’t do anything.

When this one hadn’t shown up by noon John switched us over to Comcast. Their technician is coming next week. The news of our ‘defection’ must have gotten back to AT&T at lightning speed because we had two emails and a phone call from them within an hour. Then, at 4pm the technician showed up and said he couldn’t do anything. We knew that.

Yet they still continue to send us a bill without ever telling us the straight story about how long they were going to leave us dangling without service. Needless to say, we aren’t going to pay it.

You really can’t make it up...

We knew the power was going to come back on when the giant helicopter flew about ten feet over our house. Not sure how they can tell that their equipment is ‘safe’ that way but one would think they could use the same method to check when high winds are predicted instead of leaving people without water during a red flag warning.

Time to take a shower....
