The wind giveth, the wind taketh away.

And here atop the porridge hill, it’s a good deal windier than at sea level.

Overnight our beech tree lost half its leaves onto the grass. Just now I stepped outside to rescue the bird feeder, currently horizontal in the gale. That is, I had to heave the door open against the suction of the storm. On the way back in I had to shove it open with all my might, for the same reason.

The beech tree now has scarcely a leaf left. And are they all, spread all over the grass? Nope. They are in the garden of the house two doors away. I suppose that’s a result of sorts.

Anyway, where there had been leaf cover, I now find this single, unseasonal daisy. Possibly startled.
