Thinking of COP26

I had just been reading research papers saying that by 2025, conventional petrol and diesel cars will be down to 36% market share in the EU and China, with the US dragging its feet at 53%. This being driven by the dash for electrification, whether pure battery or hybrid. The UK is included in the EU bracket because, nowadays, Britain does what it is told, commercially. (*)

Anyway, yesterday we had time to kill so Mrs Oons and I went to the antiques and salvage reclamation yard at Daviot. This and the extra were for sale. There is high demand among collectors for petrol pump signs, though the condition was so perfect I suspect these might be reproduction.

In any event, with COP26 starting this week, they offer a forceful reminder of why we are where we are.

(*) I know there are complexities in the electrification question. It isn't my intention to start a debate on them here; but rather to have an excuse to post something with jolly bright colours!
