Kendal Changeline Bridge #186

In January last year I started walking the Lancaster Canal towpath from Kendal to Lancaster in short stretches, on crutches, as part of my hip operation rehab.  I blipped this bridge on  4 Jan  and made a note to self to to come back and take a better look.  With the terrible weather this week, Mr P is in the middle of a complicated jigsaw of Kendal. I've tried to do the canal section and remembered note to self. Rushed out today when the gale force winds dropped and before the sun disappeared.
Here you can see the ramp for the horses to swap from the west to the east side of the canal without unhitching. It's the only "turnover" bridge in Cumbria. Last January I would have had trouble negotiating that ramp. Its disappointing that the north end of the canal has been filled in but it suffered greatly from water seepage through the limestone when it was open and was filled in in the 1960s despite much local opposition .
