Bothwell Castle

Our first visit, enjoyed the views from the Great Hall and from the top of the 4 storey spiral staircase in the Donjon Tower. This is Scotland's largest 13th century castle, looked after by Historic Scotland. Said to be the finest piece of medieval military architecture remaining in Scotland.

The grounds lead down to the Clyde Walkway, and we enjoyed banks of snowdrops as we headed to the David Livingstone Memorial Footbridge at Blantyre.
