Blue sky thinking

On a morning like this, the RSPB reserve between Aldeburgh and Thorpeness is a delight of flooded flat blue water under a curved blue sky.

Thousands of ducks, swans and geese use the marshes in winter, while spring brings breeding bitterns, marsh harriers, woodlarks and nightingales.

Although it was early, spring nesting was starting up, and as we crossed it, a hopeful buzzard was riding the thermals overhead, very interested in the proceedings
