The day after the night before

I see and hear that many of you are entering another season of lockdown. I’m sorry for the challenges that will present you.

In some ways I would appreciate being told we had to shut down. Some of our provinces are on code red because the numbers are increasing rapidly. So the government there orders the churches to stop meeting in person for the time being.

Over here, the government has made the church leadership responsible for the safety of its people. (The only province in Canada to do this.) There are no number limits on our gatherings, although there are other space limitations etc.

So, depending on if the leaders are more to the, “let’s be safe side” or the “Covid isn’t real side,” the church ends up in the middle. I get comments and very frustrated people asking why we aren’t more careful with it all, and others wanting us to open it all up. Both sides push because of their own frustrations.

It’s actually a bit of a brilliant move on behalf of the local government because the people stop pushing them and start pushing their local church leaders.

Anyway that’s the challenge we face here. Certainly not the same as you there, yet.

My favourite candies provide a few moments of sweet distraction. After Halloween there does seem to be an abundance of them around.

She does love me.
