£1 Million Fence.

Unfortunately Scammonden Bridge, over the M62, is a popular spot for people with suicidal tendencies.  This was the situation in 2012.
At last something has been done. An inwardly curved 2.4m (8ft) high anti-climb fence has been installed to deter suicide attempts. Some other maintenance work has also been carried out - the total cost is £1.25m.
The West Yorkshire Police have also installed CCTV to alert them to anyone loitering at the bridge.
The road closed in May 2020 and has just recently re-opened.
