Everyday I Write The Book

By Eyecatching

I only have eyes for you

No mouth, no nose, no ears. Just eyes. The combination of cold weather and Covid means that everything gets covered up. We will need to start wearing name badges soon. With me it’s even worse, you just get one eye, but at least that makes me instantly recognisable (unless I am at a tall pirate’s convention).

First part of the day was The Dizzle’s 24th birthday. He was able to have a lie-in and enjoy his presents before going off to work at lunchtime. We then went for a walk and a small shopping trip, TSM getting some comfy clothes for the next period of being banged up at home whilst the virus does it’s stuff.

Afternoon was domestics - in particular wall mounting a couple of TVs, one of which will function mainly as my computer screen. And cleaning out cupboards.  Oh and there was a really good short play on radio 4 about Charles Schulz (the Peanuts cartoonist) and how he introduced a black character into his comic strip at the height of the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King. This at the behest of a black mother who wrote to him and suggested it would help advance the cause. He had no problem with the concept (as a US soldier who had seen Dachau at first hand he hated any form of racial discrimination); it was just the execution that worried him - how to do it in a way that was not patronising. Black and white history so’s to speak.

Been a good day. Back to the three day working week tomorrow ...
