Dog watch

Although often in the vicinity, we had never visited Nelson Bay, and so we remedied that today. The drive from our bush retreat was short, about 40 minutes, and we found the town to be a prosperous and picturesque little place - with a considerable amount of money tied up in the marina. A two-deck crescent of modern cafes and restaurants and a pleasant park hug the foreshore. We rarely deny ourselves seafood in such circumstances, and we enjoyed a late lunch.

Later, whiling away the time seated on a bench, we came across these dogs doing much the same. Their master and mistress can be seen through a bar window at the rear, having refreshments; I must say, they made sure their dogs were given water while they waited. I thought perhaps the dogs were father and daughter, but no. The owners told us when they came out that the larger male, an American Boxer, was, at 10 months, one month younger than his companion, an English Boxer.
