California Quail

I know this one! There was a covey of them scattered across the trail. The Extra gives a better sense of what it's like to come across such a group. They whirrrrr out of sight before you realize they are missing from the landscape. The real surprise was to see them jump up into the shrubbery and make an escape across intertwining branches. I've never seen quail in trees before; I didn't know they could do it.

I've barely checked into anything about the election. A few sneak peeks at the red and blue map, but that's it. I don't want to get caught up in all that yo-yo anxiety. There will be enough to go around whenever I'm up for it.
