Catkins and Cones

Still great weather! A bit nippy, yes - but lashings of blue sky and that golden disc-shaped thing smiling down.

Spring has definitely started - no turning back now. Here are male catkins and female cones of the British Alder (Alnus glutinosa) - how useful to have both sexes on the one tree.

There are buds bursting out all over now so expect more here in the next few days.
