The magical mushroom mystery tour

The finest of fine November days. So warm and sunny, warm enough to raise the vent on the greenhouse.

We were inside most of the morning. I peeled loads of pickling onions which are sitting in a large bowl with a sprinkling of salt ready for pouring in the pickling liquor tomorrow. I have the same amount to peel tomorrow which will give us enough supplies to last until this time next year.

It was an early lunch as we both had appointments for the ‘flu jab this afternoon. From the surgery we continued our walk up onto the Downs in glorious weather. Lots to see including this trail of fungi and many berries; haws, hips, gelder rose and black bryony. It’s a real larder out there this year.

Doesn’t that tree have the look of a wizened witch overseeing that line of fungi? It may be suitable for Silly Saturday? Thank you to Carol Dunham for hosting this Silly Saturday challenge

Thank you for your kind comments on Landon’s return to daycare after self isolation. We were relived he didn’t catch the virus.

While writing this the BBC have announced that Joe Biden has won the US election despite counts not being finally completed in the remaining few states. I don’t have any expectation that Trump will “concede gracefully” as is the traditional way of doing things. It could still be messy and acrimonious and drag on for weeks. I suspect all the rhetoric and nonsense will come from Trump. How could 70 million people vote for him?
