"With Fronds Like These, Who Needs Anemones?

Time to get out my Ladybird, "What To Look For In Spring."

The tiny, bright red, anemone-like female flowers of hazel; Corylus avellana, spread their styles to receive pollen. They are easily missed amongst the familiar, male, lambs' tail catkins.

Extra colour provided by Xanthoria lichen.
