Breaking Out

Today was warm and humid. Good conditions for two praying mantis ootheca to hatch. Here a new born nymph pauses on its egg case before springing into the unknown. The “tassels” show several siblings have already left.

It was also a good day for lizards to sneak out of their lairs to soak up the sunshine. See extra shot. A pregnant skink relaxing. Unlike most lizards she will give birth to live babies, rather than laying eggs.
