Jail/Just Visiting...

...I was in here for a whole 24hrs hours and not a single one of you came to visit me (bow your heads in shame).

All UK tv viewers will have seen this entrance is some programme or another, the list of TV and Film credits is too long to type, this is HMP Wormwood Scrubs. This entrance is a grade 2 listed building.

The prison was built by a labour force of prisoners (I am surprised that they didn't build escape tunnels through it), it was the brainchild of the Head of Prisons Sir Edmund du Cane; the prison is located on Du Cane Rd.

In 1979, IRA prisoners staged a rooftop protest over visiting rights. 60 inmates and several prison officers were injured.

Behind the prison is a 200 acre open space that we locals refer to as 'the scrubs" which is mainly used for Sunday league football. The space also houses Linford Christie stadium with its athletics track and a nature reserve.

Best of all is that this is all located a 10min walk away from the world greatest football team.

I would like to say thanks for all yesterdays, comment, stars, favs and offers of files in cakes. Half term with the boys so the picture of Matthew dice rolling has been outsourced to a phone app I kept shaking until it rolled me a double.
