Quod oculus meus videt

Colours of Autumn

I've often noticed that when silver birch trees shed their leaves the fine branches at the periphery of the tree have a mauve tint to them.  I've tried before to capture that colour, with only limited success.  For whatever reason, the lighting conditions today did seem more conducive to showing off this colour, along with the last few leaves tenaciously hanging on to those branches and the green algae and moss that covers the trunk and more substantial branches.

All in all it was very colourful and in the absence of sunshine (frustratingly it appeared after we had finished our walks), was my favourite image of the day.
