Log store

I had a log fire yesterday evening, such a comfort on a cold wet day. Our logs are very dry and burn away  quickly. It looks as though we have a good supply in our store, and I hope they will last through the winter.
We usually have a roast for Sunday lunch, and for a change today we had gammon joint. I boiled it in diluted cider with bay leaves onion and peppercorns for an hour. I  then removed the rind and basted it in honey, ginger and mustard before 30 minutes in the oven. It was tasty, and there is enough left to last us for lunches well into the week.
