Fish pool

The waiter at the Burmese restaurant has created a small fish pond in the garden area.  Upto now the cat is scared of water so has left them alone.  We did joke with the owner that they should introduce Thai Fighting Fish with customers having a small wager on the outcome.  Gambling is illegal in Thailand,  but Thai people still enjoy a flutter.

Last night we felt the effects of the student demonstrations.  The road to the restaurant was bumper to bumper with very slow moving traffic.  It was apparent that something was happening.  There is an area in Chiang Mai, known as Tha Phae Gate which is a large square where events are held, the students had gathered there to hold a peaceful demonstration.  As Chiang Mai basically has a one way road system we usually have to pass the gate to get to a right-hand U-turning point. Our tuktuk driver had the solution, he met us on footpath outside the restaurant and guided us across the road to his tuktuk which was parked on the side of the turning used to do left-handed turns he then did a sneaky right-hand turn.   We arrived home safely.  We are just hoping that the ongoing demonstrations remain peaceful.

Stay safe.
