One Foot In The Real World

One thing I've been thinking about when taking these type of shots, is whether and how much to include of the source of the reflection. Without any reference, the image is abstracted, often coming down to patterns, shapes and rhythm. Inevitably it's an upside down version of the 'real' world and even if the subject can be discerned, the result may seem surreal.

On the other hand, showing what caused the reflection can put the illusion at risk and take away any mystery and mood. As with most things, I think it requires finding a balance, which probably varies for each case.

I chose Fuji Classic Chrome for this image, which seemed to desaturate and simplify the lines making the image a touch more graphical.
