Hickory tree

Most of the trees in the yard still have plenty of leaves except the oaks (even though there are billions of leaves on the ground!).    The hickory nut tree is just starting to turn yellow which is make some really nice color on against the blue sky.  

We had a chilly day today so I made a pot of "let's see what I have in the freezer and pantry soup!"!    I found a little piece of beef steak and a half bag of frozen peas, carrots and corn.  So I added some cabbage and a can of black beans and a can of tomatoes.     

Soup is good on a chilly day and the best thing is there will be leftovers for tomorrow!!
