Snacking squirrel

Wednesday
This morning was my mother-in-law’s memorial service, which we were all able to join via a Zoom link - the two of us from Ohio, Jen from Salt Lake City, Philip from Virginia and Laura from Kuwait! There were also family members joining from Guernsey, as well as some local people who were unable to attend, since numbers were limited. The wonders of modern technology! They couldn’t sing hymns in the actual service so my brother-in-law John had put together a “virtual” choir, with contributions from us and other family members who couldn’t be there, as well as members of the congregation - it sounded really good! Laura had recorded a flute solo with piano accompaniment to be played, and our nephew Matthew, who was there in person, read a beautiful poem. Roger and his sister Janet shared the reading of the eulogy, which was largely written by Janet and Bernard, with input from Roger and Pamela. This was followed by a very short service at the crematorium, which John filmed on his phone and sent through the Zoom link. The quality of that wasn’t very good, so we struggled to hear the words, but at least we could see, and catch the gist of the words. Strange and difficult times we are living in, but we are so thankful for all the efforts Janet and John put in to let us and others be a part of it.
Once that was finished, we had a bit of lunch, then went out to enjoy the afternoon sun walking at Sharon Woods, where I came across this squirrel snacking on a nut!
