I had a terrible night's sleep last night (Richard was snoring, that's my story anyway).  So I went back to bed after breakfast, hoping to catch up a bit. This more or less worked, and by mid-morning I was ready to meet Jack, Frieda, Ruth and Luca for a socially-distanced walk down Wyming Brook. We took the broad, easy path on the way down - ending up at Rivelin Dams - and then the winding, rocky one on the way back up.
Luca and Frieda were mesmerised by the rushing water, and took plenty of opportunities to scramble around on the rocky path. The little river is very full at the moment, with water cascading over the rocks and swirling in leafy pools - wonderful. There are still splashes of colour left in some of the trees too.
I felt very lucky to have that lovely interlude together.  In the early days of Covid, Ruth, Josh and the kids were all still living in Oxfordshire, so we only saw each other on screen.  Now that they're here in Sheffield, it's so much easier. The two little cousins - Luca and Frieda - are also finding time to get to know each other properly.  Eben, meanwhile, continues to enjoy himself at school, excited by the company and by his continuing progress in working out how letters and numbers operate.
