Feckenham

We left the county to explore a Worcestershire village this afternoon, Feckenham. Normally one only sees the houses on either side of the road as you drive through on the main road, but there's actually some interesting bits off that road.

We had a nice wander round including the local church, St John the Baptist.   There is a very nice village green, some very old houses, a local shop and coffee bar, both closed, and their own cricket club.  There are various walks from the village and the few people we did see out walking seemed very friendly.

The photo is of a house on the High Street called The Old Needle Mill.  The area around Redditch was famous for its needle making industry dating from the 17th century.  According  to the Historic England web site this Grade 2 listed building dates from the early 18th century and was converted from needle mill in the mid 20th century.
