Idlicote

Another Warwickshire village to explore this afternoon.   To think we used to spend all our time at Nero on Henley Street drinking coffee.....those were the days!

Anyway we drove out to Idlicote off the Banbury Road and had a look round.  The first thing we spotted on the way to the church was this fortress looking tower which turns out to be an 18th century dovecote possibly transferred from Kenilworth Castle. Apparently there is room for 1002 doves....we didn't see any.

There is an old church, St James the Great, and a pretty duck pond.  The surrounding countryside is lovely.

The extra is a sign that made me smile, in the church entrance porch.
