Wound up in Wexford

The fence

This is the fence in the field next door.  We spoke to the chaps putting it up (all volunteers) on Monday - it is purely to keep the dogs in the field safe, as there is a road on the other side of the hedge.  A small road, but getting busier as the village gets bigger, and more people use it as a route into Norwich.  It's a pretty ugly and functional fence - hopefully as it rusts it will be less of an eyesore.

They finished on Monday, and were followed yesterday by a farm worker on a large tractor with an equally large hedge cutting attachment, who decimated the hedge between the field and the road, and made a pretty ugly mess of all the other hedges around the field.  When he saw us looking at what he was doing, he got out of his tractor to talk to us.  He reckoned the boundaries had been neglected and needed radical cutting back.  Personally, I think they were getting nicely wildlife friendly, and since the only people using the field are dog walkers, losing a couple of feet on each side to a sprawling hedge doesn't seem such a dreadful thing.  But who am I to have an opinion?

Today has been a grey day, in more ways than one.  We neither of us slept well last night, so had little energy for activity.  W has done a bit of tidying in the workshop, and I posted a parcel to Sweden.
