Minesweeper

I was on child collecting duties today so thought it an ideal opportunity to continue the recent series of arty farty sculpture blips. I did think this was th closest to school, but have just realised there is one right outside the museum, more or less opposite the school....a blip for another day!

If you look hard you can see the lighthouse...I see that lighthouse from the other side from my kitchen window.

Minesweeper

This lifesize bronze beautifully conveys the strength and character of the North East seafaring people. The Minesweeper's job was to patrol the dunes watching for mines that might be swept into the harbour on an incoming tide. The original was exhibited in the RSA in 1944, but the statue was cast
and installed on the Montrose esplanade in 2000.
