Next demolition

There are building sites sprouting up all around us. Just up the road, there are some flats going up in an area previously occupied by various warehouses. Right next to that used to Blakes metalworks. They have recently moved out to a new site near the airport, and their factory is being demolished. Interesting to see the progress (but this time from street level with no noise....). That whole area between West Bowling Green Street, South Forth Street and the railway path from Leith to Canonmills is now being developed. It will be interesting to see whether the new flats are snapped up as quickly as the ones on the other side of South Forth Street, right along the Water of Leith, were. That latter development seems - on the face of it - rather nice, although people say the rooms inside are very small....

Anyhoo....after an evidently misty wander around the paths this morning, we spent part of the afternoon on the NLS website ordering ourselves some prints of historical maps of the area that we plan to have framed in order to adorn the many empty walls we have in this flat :-( No seriously, we'll find somewhere for them. It's a little Christmas present to ourselves.

And quite a lot of time chatting about what happens when people decide effectively to reinvent themselves.

Pizzas for tea. They were excellent. I persuaded Mr A to put some spinach on them (I'm generally a huge fan of spinach and almost order the Florentina with extra mushrooms when at Pizza Express). He was reluctant, but agreed in the end, and seemed to enjoy the end result.
