The unwelcoming boggart

Our local nature reserve. The visitor centre has been closed since March,

A couple of circuits in the grey and damp this afternoon.

We avoid this place at weekends - far too busy for comfort, And even today, in grim weather, there were enough people. J wore her mask all the time. And as usual we were stepping away from the path to avoid people coming the other way. As it’s essentially part of a residential area, there are plenty of dog walkers, joggers, and people just wanting to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.

The path winds through what in ecological terms is defined as “wet woodland”. It’s very wet at present (extra), The ecological value (largely on the moss, which is “ out of bounds”) is in plants and invertebrates, as well as reptiles (slow worms and adders), less so mammals and birds.
