Snapdragons

Today's the day ………………………. to fly in the face of

These are our in-house Antirrhinums - or as they are more commonly known - snapdragons.  We never planted them.  They just appeared in the garden - and in fact, the people that we bought the house from, told us to look out for them.  I don't think they'd planted them either - they've just always been here.

So - that's very nice - but what is all the more amazing, is that they don't seem to require any soil to grow in.  They are just there, wherever they fancy, be it amongst the pebbles round the pond, in a wall, between the paving stones or in a pot with something else.

And finally, what are they doing looking so green and fresh on December 1st?  Don't they know, it's the start of winter and all normal plants have retired gracefully until at least spring comes around again …………………..?
