Chipp Away

Desperate for a change of scenery, Hannah and I have come away for the weekend. The main criteria were remaining within the same tier and somewhere where we could stomp about in the countryside. We settled on Chippenham in Wiltshire, which feels as random as it gets. However it feels bloody wonderful to have travelled somewhere, and I liked this persimmon tree in the Chippenham library car park.

We sought out pub grub within the hotel and we couldn’t get a drink until we’d ordered our food. In a very dangerous skirting of the ‘substantial meal’ rules, the waitress offered me a second cider as she cleared our plates. Apparently it counts as a drink tied to the eating of a meal if there are still traces of a burger bun in your facial hair.

There are not a great deal of things to do in Chippenham of a winter’s evening so we had dinner at 6pm and went to sleep at least three hours before my usual time.
