Lost at Sea

The Man and Boy statue at Brixham. This morning it is surrounded by tributes to the two fishermen lost at sea when the Brixham fishing boat Joanna C sank in the early morning of November 21st off the Sussex Coast.
Last night there was an event in the harbour to remember them. Lights shone in their memory and there was a two minute silence. This was repeated in other harbour towns, and especially in Newhaven, which is near to where the boat sank.
The Man and Boy statue was created by sculptor Elisabeth Hadley, after a long period of community fundraising, and was unveiled in 2016. It commemorates lives lost at sea and celebrates Brixham’s fishing heritage.
