Sun and Shadows

We literally spent most of the day getting the medicals we needed for exchanging our driving licenses for Portuguese ones. Which we haven't been able to get till now because there are no doctors at Mourão's health post, but then we discovered there's a private doctor on Monday mornings.

At one point, we had to run across town to the health post because they weren't answering their phone and no-one knew if they were open, to get them to register our phone numbers (which they should already have done), so the doctor could get a code sent to them, so we could give her permission to access our health records. Or something. The woman who wouldn't answer the health post phone then kept us waiting while she had a lengthy conversation with someone on her mobile and then proceeded to tell us, in an annoyed voice, that we should have just phoned... We then ran back to the private clinic and got there in time for the lovely young doctor to work through her lunch hour to actually do the job. Which was mostly on her computer and very little medical examining -  reassuring, mind you, to know our blood pressure and pulse were both good, though as she said, if they failed folk on blood pressure, there wouldn't be many drivers in Portugal. In the middle of all this, Mike had to run back to our Land to get a couple more documents, he went and came back (in the car) in 12 minutes.

Anyway, Mike then had to go again to the dentist, so we just had lunch in town, and then I walked back, round the castle. It had been a very grey day, but as I rounded the corner, there was suddenly this gorgeous light on the far side of the Lake. Some of those trees in the middle are on our Land. The road in the middle goes across the Lake, and is forbidden till Wednesday morning because tomorrow is a national holiday.

Gratefuls:
- Dr Ângela Mira, who really went the extra mile to help us, and kept telling us to pray for things to work
- actually getting the medicals, now on to the next step...
- seeing a load of folk we love, including Hamp5on and her Dad, on a zoom meeting tonight
