Baz and I finally got out for our walk at 2.30 pm. I thought we'd go to the park to find out if the Shepshed snake had been installed.

As we strolled down Kirkhill, I noticed the light was on in Colin's back room. We went to see him. He made me a coffee enhanced no end by a tot of brandy. After half an hour of chat, we set off again, into the gloaming.

The snake, of stones painted by local children during the first lockdown period, was nowhere to be seen. A bunch of schoolboys had gathered for a chat, two  men were exercising their dogs in another corner of the field, otherwise there was no one to be seen.

We walked home in the dusk as the Christmas lights were coming on. Our tree is up and we even have some lights in the window.

Today's photo is of an Advent train in the window of Natural Beautii in Field Street, Shepshed.
