Lathyrus Odoratus

Do not disturb

Pruning some roses this morning I spotted this rather large and very bright green larvae among the oak leaves. I assume its a moth of some kind. Its chances of reaching adulthood must be quite slim - if I could spot it so could the blackbirds and robins that were working their way through the leaves.

Postscript: having thought about this a bit more I've convinced myself that it's a birch sawfly larvae.
