19.5p

I think when the decimalised the currency they were a bit naive with the 1/2p, it was obvious it wasn't going to be worth minting for very long, but it lasted far longer than it should have. With inflation at 60s and 70s levels they really should have rebased the currency as well, to allow it to cope better with inflation.

Today's back blip is a 19.5p stamp is from 1982 when the theme was Christmas Carols. I was in secondary school then, the first form as it was called then. My little brother was still in primary school. Home computers were a thing, and people were starting to buy the Commodore VIC-20, Sinclair ZX-81, and the more powerful Commodore-64, Sinclair Spectrum and BBC Model B. I didn't get a computer for my Christmas though this year, we couldn't afford one.

This week has been the calm before the storm, looks like I'll be busy applying all sorts of stuff to make our clients systems work for BREXIT, which we still don't know what form it will take, but probably no-deal the way Johnson is posturing - like a testosterone addled ram - though he's going to end up shot a served up like a sacrificial offering at this rate...
