Negative

We had a quiet one today, making running repairs to a cardboard spaceship and making a cardboard car. The wee ones didn’t believe me that Donald Trump was in Home Alone 2, so we watched it and I was delighted to see that they were massively underwhelmed.

We received our covid tests back in around 18 hours, which is pretty impressive!

Pleased to say that, as expected, they all returned negative and m’boy does indeed have nothing more than “a bit of a cold” and can now return to school on Monday with his little sister.

I was tempted to take issue with the school about what I consider to be a huge over-reaction to “the sniffles”, but it’s not their fault. They’re operating under a crushing weight of bureaucracy and fear and as we know, fear is a potent antidote to common sense and good decision making.

Hopefully, with the vaccine taking effect over the coming weeks and months coupled with people realising that they have to do their bit by following the guidance, fear levels will reduce proportionately with a drop in infection rates.

This should give common sense the time and space it needs to-regrow, alleviating the need for small children with runny noses to be sent home from school.
