The future is now

I received a couple of packages from the UK today. They had customs declarations on them. Takes you right back to the 1970s, doesn't it? Meanwhile the queues are building up in Dover and freight companies have doubled their prices or are refusing to quote for transport at all.

But don't worry, Conservative MP Peter Bonehead says that there are and will be no delays, and food will get cheaper because the UK can impose lower tariffs on non-European countries (um nope, that's not how WTO rules or geography work). Plus that old chestnut that the government will have more money because it will collect tariffs from imported goods (yes, it is the British importers who pay them and pass them on to British customers via increased prices). How is it possible that nearly five years later the idiots are still in charge?
