Day 267 A pawtrait....seriously?

Peggy Sue is not the keenest of models but as there weren't many options open to me today she had to be my subject for carolinav's optional theme for today's MonoMonday challenge of A Pet Portrait.
As I took and edited this picture, we learned that Greater London, most of Essex (where we live) and even some parts of Hertfordshire will go into Tier 3 from midnight tomorrow, so in effect Wednesday.  To be honest I never thought that they'd go ahead with London as it is the capital and has over 9 million inhabitants, but they have.  The hospitality industry will of course be hit hardest, while all retail and close contact services such as hairdressers and nail bars can remain open.  Interestingly, a new mutation of the virus was announced at the same time, with the inference that this has somehow caused the spike in cases in the South.  I can imagine that those of you, mostly in the North, who have been living under Tier 3 restrictions for a considerable time are less than impressed!
The government dept of Education have insisted that schools remain open and will take legal action against any borough which attempts to close their schools early for Christmas  and move to online teaching.  There seems to be a lack of connection with reality here, as some schools will literally be forced to close due to severe staff shortages due either to their having contracted Covid-19 or having to self isolate, because they've  been in contact with an infected person.
