Snow Day

Finally, brief though it was, snowflakes fell before turning to sleet and then rain.  With no measurable snow last year, this has been a real treat.  And being home already meant no anxiety about commuting on the notoriously treacherous DC metro roads in icy weather.

Full feeders attracted a variety of birds, but this tiny Carolina Wren was the noisiest.  A Red-tailed Hawk was watching from a high branch, too far away to get a decent photo.  Two Mourning Doves were near the wren, oblivious to the potential danger.  Perhaps the wren was sounding a warning?

Stay safe everyone!
