Tomdachoille Island

Better weather today (in the sense that glimpses of blue sky could be seen, although the threat of rain was ever present.

We decided to head down to the Tummel to see the Highland Cows and then walk along the river and then up towards the A9 where the OS map showed a subway which would take us out onto the old road.

Part of  field is actually an island, Tomdachoille which roughly means wooded hill (as far as I can tell). It is neither hilly or wooded and so I suspect it takes it name from the house opposite which is called Tomdachoille and is on a wooded hilly area. There even used to be a distillery there.

The coos were there and we made our way round to the subway. It was there but it didn't extend as far as the railway so we continued round the field which meant we saw the coos again.  They were noisier second time around starting mooing and walking towards us. Although there was a fence between us and them we did not linger.
