Safe yet sparkly for Christmas

Today we went to Ludlow to see F's daughter in her shop and swap Christmas presents as we won't see her on the day. While I was there I did spot a little extra something for my grandaughter, there are lots of unusual items in the shop and mostly fair trade which is always a bonus..

Afterwards we went for a walk around the town where we saw this metal remembrance soldier staying safe with his mask and making his helmet festive with Christmas tinsel.

We then went for a walk along the River Teme which was very high after all the rain.

We heard the cheep of a kingfisher and one flew along the river and landed in a tree followed by another which flew across to the other bank.  We could hear a third but didn't see it. They must find it very difficult to fish when the river is high and rushing along.  Unfortunately I didn't have the right lens with me so photos were just record shots.

It was lovely to have a trip out for a change and we were especially pleased that the town was very quiet.
