Tortolita Mtns

Yesterday's snow adds lustre to the Tortolita Mountins some 10 miles across the valley. Peak elevation is 4700 feet. Tortolita means "Little Turtle Dove".

Native American peoples known as the Hohokam heavily occupied the area for approximately 700 years beginning around AD 500. In the eastern foothills of the Tortolita Mountains are ruins of Honeybee Village, a former Hohokam pueblo.

We are just departing for a trip to Phoenix to visit with Bob's cousin. This is the view that we see everytime we leave SaddleBrooke.
