The Dunsapie Otter

We went out this morning to get the turkey. We had tried to order one a few days before the deadline, but found all slots had been booked for collection at 3 supermarkets. Undeterred, we went to the M & S Foodhall in Chesser Avenue at about 11:00, and were successful in getting one of the right size and paying for it in 10 minutes. After lunch, as it was nice weather, we went to Arthur’s Seat and walked round the various Turf zones on the hill. The light was really good and I got a couple of good suitable blips. However as we got towards Dunsapie Loch we noticed that there were a lot of people at the northern end. We assumed that an otter was about as they are regularly seen there. It was getting a bit dark and initially we didn’t see one, but then it appeared about 10 metres away and proceeded to dive and fish for the next few minutes. I followed it as it went west and it just appeared about 4 metres away and I took the blip. This otter seems unfazed by people and in good light it must be possible to get great shots.

Best on black.
