Sizergh Fell and more on conjunctions

I managed to arrange very good weather for the Tuesday Run (Walk) and led the team over Sizergh Fell including some paths they had never been on before, then lunched outside at Sizergh Castle café .

In the late afternoon we trekked up Gummers How with some other
mad friends   with head torches, hoping to see the Jupiter Saturn conjunction but, despite there being far less cloud than yesterday, we had no luck with seeing the planets. Luckily one guy had the Sky Walk app on his phone which showed us what the sky would look like from where we were standing, if the clouds had not been there. We admired the conjunction and were pretty sure we saw Father Christmas racing across the sky. I was wrong when I said it would not happen again for 400 years, Apparently they will be another  conjunction on 31 October 2040 but not as close, so we probably will not be able to see it.  This one is special because its the closest conjunction to the to Earth since 1226.
