Gingerbread Tree

Don't tell the Flumlet but there's a gingerbread tree to add to the Three Kings for Christmas Day.

It didn't turn out quite as I had planned, mainly because my star cutters were lacking a size smaller than the maximum, which necessitated warming some large ones and trimming them down, the same procedure then followed for a few at the top, since the technique proved successful (with minimal breakages).

The straw selected to provide the central spindle was not reliably strong so I purloined a decoration which had a suitable stem from elsewhere, gave the top a quick spray to make it more festive - just call it a Christmas Rose - dribbled some icing here and there and voila!

I have also iced the cake, washed the decorations (that have frequented our sitting room floor when the Flumlet was round), ready to adorn the cake and put both jelly and custard on the trifle.

Sounds like progress but the house is still a tip.
