Under water

JJ cooked breakfast this morning, a rare treat and then we donned hats and coats for a walk down to Bromham bridge to see how much the river had risen since yesterday.

Houses in the nearby village of Clapham have been told to move as much as they can upstairs and be ready for evacuation.

This is the floodplain alongside the river Great Ouse and already the debris is piling up against the bridge supports because the river is above the arches.  As Newport Pagnell is already flooded, the flood gates will have been opened and the roads downstream will have been cut off at most of the river crossings.  As if life isn't difficult enough right now.

On another note, the traffic on the roads was no less than on a working day, which is worrying considering we are in Tier 4 and not supposed to go anywhere.

JJ and I have been playing Cribbage and I am absolutely useless at adding up my tally.  We'll probably move on to Sequence, which is a game where you need to have your wits about you.

Dinner of turkey crown etc., will be at 6 p.m.
