Christmas Hat

I hope you have all had a nice, if different xmas. G and I went for a xmas beach walk this morning. We headed out at low tide with the Met Office app forecasting full sun. Yep, it was icy cold, with a freezing North Westerly wind and as we walked back it rained!!! Lovely to meet with G though. The photo shows my xmas bobble hat and scarf drying out after the walk. I've also posted a couple of photos of birds as extras. Lots of messaging throughout the day and a nice FaceTime chat with my friend T.

Day 285 / Day 6 of the 4 Tiers (for my record only)
UK deaths up 570 to 70,206 (revised basis), with 32,725 new cases, 21,286 patients in hospital and 1,529 on ventilation (only data for England is being updated every day during the xmas/new year period). Globally cases to date pass 80m. A total of 1,100 troops are now helping with the operation to clear the remaining backlog of c5,000 lorries heading to France via Dover, including 800 additional troops today. 4,500 lorries have already left for France. Over 10,000 tests have been conducted and 24 have been positive. Food for the drivers has been organised by Network Rail and Southeastern railway, with 7 trains carrying food over 2 days which has been delivered by the Salvation Army. The Coastguard has also delivered a lot of food and water. Millions of people spend the day apart from loved ones due to Covid restrictions. The Queen in her speech referred to this and that 'all they really want for Christmas is a simple hug or a squeeze of the hand' and that they are 'not alone'.
